[s001] Joining and Basic Application Specs

:bulletwhite:Can I join this tournament?

Everyone is free to join this tournament so long as all rules are followed! While applications are not be accepted for the 2014~2015 tournament just yet, you can start filling them out so that they will be ready when the gates open! Read below for more information!

:bulletwhite:What if I don't want to participate in the main contest? Can I still join the group?

Definitely! In fact, due to our new competition style (Point Based System, no Hard Elimination. See Section [s003] for more details; ) you will simply fill out a "main contestant" application and jump in any event you would like!

You may now ask: What are NCP (Non Competing Player) applications for then? All will be answered in due time in the "Basic Application Information" below.

BASIC APPLICATION INFORMATION

Application acceptation for 2014~2015 will be open soon.

Interested in joining? Simply follow the steps below.

:bulletyellow:Join our group. (No password required. =P)
:bulletyellow:Fill in our application and submit it to the correct folder.
:bulletyellow:Only one contesting app per contestant. (You may have more than one NCP application.)

It is that simple! Of course, your application will be reviewed by the judges before officially being added to the group.

:bulletred: About Collabs as a team

There may come a team of two artists whom would like to compete under the same team. As such, we allow for two artists to submit a single application and compete as one unit. Keep in mind that once you do so, only one set of prizes may be given out to the two artists if this team wins any prize, so split the prizes wisely and choose your partners carefully. Also, the two of you may not split off into two different teams mid-tournament.

:bulletred:About your Tamer

:bulletwhite:Your tamer must be human. Even if you choose Spirit Evolution, you are, for the most part, a human being and not digi-born, and you are not allowed to be in a “permanent spirit-evolution locked state,” e.g. can’t turn back into a human.
:bulletwhite:Your tamer can be almost any age. We highly suggest a MINIMUM age of 10. (e.g. no toddlers.)
    :bulletwhite:Keep designs tame and non-dangerous.
:bulletwhite:You may change hair and clothing during the tournament as long as your tamer is still recognizable as the one you entered. Well, recognizable is debatable...but you get the point.

:bulletred:About your Digivice

    :bulletwhite:Only ONE Digivice per tamer.
:bulletwhite:Original digivices or canon digivices are allowed! (no special powers though!)
:bulletwhite:Additional things a digivice can be (but does not have to be) are:
        Storage device
        Cellular/communication device
        Flashlight
        etc.
:bulletwhite:In short, the digivice could be any electronic device with buttons and screen(s). Go creative!

:bulletred:About your Digimon

:bulletwhite:Can be from show, or make your own! Must not be overpowered or god-like.
:bulletwhite:"god-like" doesn't mean you can't theme something after a god, though.
     :bulletwhite:Must start in Rookie form or lower;

:bulletred:About Digivolving

[Chart will be inserted here shortly]

More detailed information can be found in the chart and in section [s002] of this FAQ.

:bulletwhite:Worlds

This is a multi-verse convergence. That means, all tamers could be from different worlds, where time may even run differently from each other. You could be from another earth, or a completely made up world! The Digital World itself could also be treated like that...to this Digital World we're hosting the event in, you may be from a different server.

:bulletwhite:About NCP Applications:

NCP (Non Competing Player) applications are for mostly side-character and teams, such as story-based characters. There is no limit to how many you make, but you must have one main app before you can create NCPs.

:bulletwhite:Can we reuse our tamers from past applications or ones we are currently using in other groups/OCTs?

Yes you may, so long as the work and design is your own. Make sure your art for the application is new, however.

:bulletwhite:Are we allowed tag along characters and "pet" Digimon?

Yes. However any pet Digimon must be rookie level, and if you don't have room on the main app, the NCP applications will fit your needs.

:bulletwhite:When filling in my application, can I change the colour scheme?

Yes, you can change it to your liking. But please make a solid background to distinguish it from the judges application, which will have a transparent one.

[s002]
Digivolution and Crests

:bulletwhite:I want to get another Digimon for my team. How do I get it?

Just draw/write how you encountered that Digimon or why it joined your team etc. You can either include that to one of the events or draw a separate comic/splash page or write a separate story for it. Remember though, your MAIN partner will be the only one that is required in team cameos (if a team cameo is required for a round.)

:bulletwhite:Can we use crests?

Sure. You might use one of the official crests or come up with your own. We would prefer that you use a created crest, however, and keep and mind that a crest does not mean more power; it is a representation of your character’s (team’s) power.
(Coming up with your own Crest doesn't mean you are the only one to use it. So, sharing guys, not fighting ;) )

:bulletwhite:By Digimon "type," what do you mean?

A Digimon is one of three types-

         :bulletyellow:Data
         :bulletyellow:Vaccine
         :bulletyellow:Virus

:bulletwhite:Are digimon allowed to change type/attribute between Data, Vaccine, and Virus?

Yes. When your digimon digivolves, they may change attributes.

:bulletwhite:Can I use X-Antibody Digimon?

     Of course you can!

:bulletwhite:Are Digimon Cards (from Gen 3) allowed?

Yes, they are. You may even design a few of your own cards! Just remember: nothing overpowered.

:bulletwhite:What kinds of Spirits are allowed? Just the ones from the series? For example I use the H-Spirit of Flames and I will turn into Agunimon?

You could, but you don’t have to. You could create your very own Spirit of Flames or you come up with an element that hasn’t been used in the series. Time to get creative again! (Please keep in mind that  coming up with your own element doesn't mean that you are the only person to use it. someone else might come up with the same idea or like your element and use the same one. so please no fighting over spirits, the same element can be used by multiple teams ;) )

:bulletwhite:How do I get points?

You will get Datum points for every Meme or every Event you complete. The points that you get for missions will vary depending on the effort and quality (for more information see section [s003]).

[s003]
Competition Format and Judging

:bulletwhite:How do we "win" and how does elimination work?

For the most part this tournament is a point system tournament with no elimination. You may wonder how this is still considered a tournament, but what sets this apart from simply being an "Event Based Group" is that we have Prizes at the end for our top point holders. The top members get to go into Hard Elimination rounds and vie for First, Second, and Third place.

:bulletwhite:What makes this different from an Event Group with Prizes?

An Event Group, for the most part, gives rewards based on goals; if you fulfill that goal, you get the prize. That is not the case in a competition. If you would like a prize in a competition, you must come out higher than everyone else. But, of course, if you're here just to stay and have fun, there is no penalty for missing events or not caring for the competition part.

:bulletwhite:How does each event work, and what are the points?

The categories are as follows:

:bulletyellow:Story- 1-7 points -- The contestant had interesting plot elements that added to the overall experience of the entry.
:bulletyellow:Technique- 1-7 points -- The appearance of the entry, which includes the contestant’s skill in such areas as perspective, paneling, flow of events, or in the case of writers, good grammatical and storytelling abilities.
:bulletyellow:Color- 1-7 points -- The general use of color techniques. This also includes the use of light and shadows. NOTE: This is not limited to just “color.” Grayscale (manga style, black-and-white comics) and other techniques are also included.
:bulletyellow:Background- 1-7 points -- The entry includes a background. Grading will be based on how well done the overall background is.
:bulletyellow:Guidelines- 1-7 points -- The contestant had followed all guidelines for the event.

If you feel the amount of points given are incorrect, you may bring it up with the judges, if it is a reasonable complaint.

One month after the event releases, the amount of points received will decrease by half, but there is no hard deadline to complete an event.

:bulletwhite:What about writing entries?

:bulletyellow:Story: 1-7 points: How well the story captures the interest of the judges, and how “good” the
written work is.
:bulletyellow:Grammar/Punctuation: 1-7 points: Grading is done depending on the amount of errors in the story. Ex. typos, missing or unnecessary punctuation, etc.
:bulletyellow:Fluency: 1-7 points: This relates to how well the story flows, and the lack of plot holes and sudden jumps in writing.
:bulletyellow:Stylistic Devices: 1-7 points: Deals with the use of devices such as figurative language, structure, imagery, and how well it is used
:bulletyellow:Guidelines: 1-7 points: The competitor followed all guidelines.

:bulletwhite:How do we earn Datum points for digivolution?

The points you earn for each event are actually the points you earn for digivolution! And of course, EXTRA points may be earned through memes and special interactions! For more information on how many points unlock each digivolution, consult our lovely chart!

:bulletwhite:Where can we earn extra points?

We want our competition/group to be focused on participation and being a community. As such, you can earn points from visiting the chat room at specific times, presenting non-competition but interaction-based artwork/writing, and various forms of extra credit through memes. (Note: this is not a means for bribery. Creating artwork for the administrators without contributing to the community plot does not earn points. )

[s004] Event Media and Deadlines

:bulletwhite:Art Media, Events, and collaborations. (Writing is included!)

Artwork that will be accepted are comics, splash images, one shot panels etc. We may specify on certain rounds on what kind of format we will be looking for. Writing will also be accepted, and for each round there will be specifics (such as word limit.)

Both traditional art and digital art will be accepted. Animations of any kind (GIF, Flash, etc.) are not accepted as competition material. In terms of visual arts, we cannot fairly judge animated works of any kind, even partial animations or simple "page turning" animations, with still-art.

:bulletwhite:What is the policy on late contest entries?

A deadline is a deadline. Do keep in mind though, we have a "deadline" for receiving full points, and if your entry is "late" or if you joined late, all previous events are still open for half of the amount of points it was originally for.

:bulletwhite:What time zone will the deadline be under?

Central Standard Time, disregarding the U.S.A. Time Changes. There will be a handy countdown timer. :)

:bulletwhite:Will there be extensions?

We may grant them depending in the circumstances, but keep in mind that it is not a guarantee.

:bulletwhite:Can I get someone to draw my entry for me?

No. All art must be your own. If we discover anyone who is not using their own hard work, that person will face immediate expulsion from the group! Please also do not trace or use bases. (For collaboration info, please refer to the Basic Application Data section up top.)

:bulletwhite:I don't have a tablet and cannot create digital art; can I still enter?

Yes both traditional and digital art is accepted. Remember, we will be judging by your use of presentation and creativity, not what materials were used to create the piece. You may go all digital, or even make paper cut-outs!

:bulletwhite:What sort of entries will be accepted in the main tournament and what sort of format will my entry's need to be?

On the briefing for each event, we will give information on what format your entry should be. For example, we may ask you to draw a comic, a still one shot, etc. We aim to challenge you artistically and will provide as much difference as we can between rounds.

:bulletwhite:Can I submit other work to the group?

Yes. We have a folder specifically for members to submit their non-contest artworks into. However, anything not relating to the group or anything non Digimon related will not be accepted. You also do not have to be a competing member to submit member-related artwork to the Member's Gallery.
